Hemingway's Plays Host To Taiwanese Tourist Board
After a brief tour of Disney the visiting Taiwanese Tourist Board were treated to a sunset trip on the Bounty to Hemingway's where Captain Bligh and his crew dined on a Pirate's Feast. Hong Kong Tourist Board in conjunction with HKR were showcasing the new waterfront dining area of Discovery Bay for potential Taiwanese visitors to Hong Kong. A night of entertainment ensured all had a great evening.
Hemingway's Celebrates First Anniversary
On the 29th November, 2007 Hemingway's By The Bay celebrated it's first anniversary. We celebrated in style with a theme based on 'Hemingway's Adventures'. The HMAV Bounty was chartered as we hosted the first function ever in Hong Kong onboard.
The tall ship picked up sixty of our regulars in Central Pier 3, before departing for a sunset sail through Hong Kong's bustling harbour to Discovery Bay. Cocktails and Canapes were served onboard, whilst island tunes destressed everyone after a hard days work. Upon arrival at Hemingway's in Discovery Bay, our guests were greeted with an open bar and more substantial food whilst a group of African drummers continued with the adventure setting. Later in the evening the entertainment was provided by DJ Kila who played Reggae and Calypso tunes until late.
From the feedback, everyone had a great time, and memories of sailing through the harbour aboard the Bounty will certainly stay in ones mind. ?
Hemingway's Proudly Supports DB Green
Environmental Group DB Green have recently been organising several Beach Clean-Up's. We have been offering our support in terms of free dinner vouchers for their lucky draws and even a free BBQ's for the volunteers after a hard days work. The beaches have looked great afterwards, and the pressure has urged the various Government departments to carry out more frequent clean up operations. The best part was seeing young and old, expats and locals all pitching in together giving up their Sunday for a good cause. Keep it up DB Green.Air Canada Asian Open Regatta 2007
On the last weekend of October Lantau Boat Club hosted the Air Canada Asian Open Regatta. The event was two days of racing followed by the awards dinner and prize giving hosted at Hemingway's By The Bay. We were one of the principal sponsors of the event. The racing seemed to go down well (from the shore it sure looked that way). The BBQ at Hemingway's after had our BBQ Chef's on overdrive feeding 120 hungry sailor types. All had a great time as the apres-sailing got into full swing with results posted, beer flowing and a slide-show of pictures from the day's sailing. We look forward to being able to host next years event in 2008.
